  Our Story

Well, we might be biased, but we think Somerset is the most beautiful county in England.  It's the 'Land of the Summer People'.

There are ancient woodlands... rugged coasts... golden beaches... moors and levels... hills and gorges... historic towns... chocolate-box villages... and more orchards than you can shake a wassailing stick at.

We live in the beautiful seaside town of Clevedon: famous for poetic connections to Tennyson and Coleridge - as well as the UK's only grade one listed pier... it's a beauty!  Plus, we have two of England's most vibrant and beautiful cities just down the road: Bristol and Bath.

The 'Covid effect' has impacted on all our lives - and we are no exception.  As the pandemic started to unfold, life suddenly came into sharp focus.  Time with family and friends became even more precious than before.   And everyday activities, like shopping for food or gifts, turned into hours of chasing delivery slots or trawling online to find that special something.

We had our second daughter during lockdown number one.  To stay safe, this meant we tried to avoid supermarket shopping, but every delivery slot was fully booked at all the big stores.  So we started going local.

We already had a weekly veg box delivered by our fantastic local greengrocers, but now we had the challenge of finding the rest of our shopping list.

What did we discover?

We discovered a world of incredible produce right on our doorstep!  So good,  it deserved to be celebrated - and shared far and wide.

Not only that, but many of these producers and crafters have been hit hard by these Covid times.

So we decided to start PURE SOMERSET HAMPER Co.

We love a good hamper.  We love giving and receiving a box of special goodies.  We wanted to create a luxury hamper,  but without compromising on being green and ethical.

Of course, we couldn't do it without the wonderful producers and makers.  Every product has a skilled and passionate person behind it.  We aim to bring you their stories, as well as the wonderful products to enjoy.

Cheese and apples are Somerset's most famous epicurean exports.  But there is so much more to discover.

Wherever you are in the country or the world, we want share Somerset with you...

THE SEVEN-POINTED STAR

The seven-pointed star represents the seven old districts of Somerset: North Somerset, Bath & North East Somerset, Mendip, Taunton Deane, Sedgemoor, South Somerset and West Somerset.  The county’s name comes from Old English 'Sumosaete', meaning ‘the people living at Somerton’.  This is the land of the summer people.
